I've since tried the VPN connection on three more machines here at the shop, and every one of them connects just fine (and one of those machines is in pretty poor I had, as an example, routed ras2.mydomain.com (18.104.22.168) to some internal IP for PPTP connections only (netopia routers have PPTP predefined which takes care of TCP port 1723 & GRE IP It would take a while to explain here, so a rather point you to one article in the web that explain this "problem" and how to bypass it.
