search regedit.exe, right click on it and select Run as administrator 2. In my post I had stated that... The well documented fix of going into command mode and explicitly addressing the vbscript.dll has not produced any changes. Installation seems to start off OK but terminated with a pop up "Error 2738. As the only reason for buying the NetBook was portability, this issue is therefore a little galling; the simple dongle is the only thing impacting this otherwise excellent NetBook. The VBScript engine can be registered by following these steps: Run Command Prompt as administrator: Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories Right click on Command Prompt and selectRun as administrator
What I eventually did is wipe the hard drive (using the dd command when i booted an ubuntu live cd) and then i rebuilt the computer with win 7 64-bit again Good luck GARY PS I guess I spent over 15 hours researching and fixing this, I hope you manage to resolve your issues faster if this happens to you. 0 Thanks You should be able to fix this problem by running McAfee cleaner as suggested above. well as I said, it worked for me!
In properties choose the compatibility tab, check the "Run as Administrator" then hit "OK" Reboot your computer. Fortunately, there is a McAfee removal tool which does the uninstall job properly. I do need to point out though that this does involve editing the windows registry so I'd only recommend it if you're confident with it.
