I found that creating another project again, using the same source files, then I create the Setup project (again) and the Setup Project build without troubles. Type cd\. I have succesfullt used it before. No idea how the first cabwiz.exe has become 0 Kb. i do get the error even when i'am trying to build an empty project.I registered the mergemod.dllthe ole32.dllchanged the folder namesuninstalled and reinstalled vstochecked the registry settings....and still it isnt working....probably For each setup project VS2008 creates such a file, in our case in 6 months time there were 64k of such files in the temp folder on our build server.

So when I rebuilt the installer-project the first merge-module was build in "mergemodules/release". I try the solution in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/329214/EN-US/but did not work out.
