Workaround You can choose to either remove older patches installed for Visual Studio 2008, or install Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1. I went ahead and launch the installed back from the CD again and BAM its working. Edi. - ENU, selecting Add / remove features did not show the failed SQL component as an option to install.

Anyway, I figured I needed to repair the VS2008 installation to get back my pre-installed templates (plus there could be other problems I did not yet encounter). See, the workaround is simple; kick off the VS2008 setup repair from the Add/Remove Programs of the Control Panel instead of directly from the media. For reference I have included the entry in Windows update for this hotfix. That said, in answer to your question: http://uk.php.net/SPL I love the SPL, the collection class in C# was something that I liked as soon as I started with it.
